We are mixing it up this month and instead of Craft group, we are doing Art Therapy.
Rowena from ‘Art Expressions with Row’ has been running free art therapy workshops at the Nowra Veterans Wellbeing Centre on Friday afternoons, as part of her placement hours.
As part of community engagement with the NVWC, Row has offered to facilitate a workshop for us at Kooka on Saturday 23rd July 6pm-9pm.
* Places are limited.
* Please bring a magazine to share with the group, to be used for a collage.
What you need to know about Art Therapy.
Art therapy is NOT about being good at art or being creative. It’s a “bottoms up” approach to counselling, using “arts” for processing thoughts, issues, emotions and events. This is done in a non-judgmental group space that focuses on a healing outcome in a collective environment of like minded people and gives another layer of support.
This session of Art Therapy will incorporate music, multiple art mediums, movement, divination and other creative transpersonal therapies. We never know what will surface, but it’s a safe place to explore and express it.
Both the Nowra Veterans Wellbeing Centre and Art Expressions with Row have some exciting classes and opportunities in the works. Follow them on social media to see whats coming up.
